Rita Pickreign

Rita Ann Pickreign, 78 of Saranac Lake, New York passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.

Born December 4, 1937 in Albany, NY the daughter of John Richard Gardner and Philomena (Macy) Gardner.

Rita was a lifetime resident of Saranac Lake. A graduate of Saranac Lake High School and Albany Business School.

She retired from North Star Industries, where she worked as an Office Manager. Before that she worked as an Office Manager at CADD (Center for the Advancement of the Developmentally Disabled).

Rita was one of the kindest, nurturing women you would ever want to know. She was the head of the family and a true inspiration to all young and old. Although, very strong minded to know her was to love her and if you knew her you knew “the Rita look“. Rita loved spending every moment she could with her family and friends. She will be forever missed by all.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Mickey Gardner, her sisters Paula Gardner Griffin, Eileen Gardner and Beverly Steinbach. Surviving brothers are Al Gardner and his wife Joan, Vincent Gardner and his wife Nancy and John K. Gardner and his companion Debbie. Brother in laws Donald Steinbach and Bunk Griffin.

She is survived by her husband John R. Pickreign, who she married on December, 20 1956 her children John J Pickreign, Carol A Gibbs her husband Nickolas Gibbs, Katherine L Pickreign, Lawrence R Pickreign. Grandchildren, Lawrence R Pickreign II, Danielle M Bronstein and her husband Joe, Adele K Pickreign, Allyson M. Pickreign and her fiancé Jessie Martin, Andrew V Pickreign and his partner Abigail Newton, Nicole K Larson, Christopher J. Gibbs and partner Molly Orman and Great Grand Children Hailey E. Pickreign and Christopher N. Gibbs. Several nieces and nephews. Also a very best friend Beverly Pickreign.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 7, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Patrick Ratigan Officiating.
