Audrey Ann Brown Personius, 87, of Lake Placid, NY, died Friday April 28, 2017 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY.
Born July 27, 1929, in Malone, NY, she was the daughter of Vernon and Elsie (LaFleur) Brown. She married Merl R. Personius of Millport, NY on September 11, 1981 at the Methodist Church in Liverpool, NY. He predeceased her on September 23, 1999.
She founded the St. Charles Borromeo Altar and Rosary Society, Elmira Heights, NY in 1972 and was Secretary of the St. Charles Parish Council. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, P.A.L., Ladies of Charity and the Girl Scouts in Elmira, NY. In 1973 she was also the cofounder of the Alex Call Room Aragon Dance Studio, Elmira, NY.
As a genealogist from 1960 on, she founded the Twin Tiers Genealogical Society, Elmira, NY in 1970 on; a member of the Sons and Daughters of the First Settlers of Newbury, MA, 1992 on; the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1973 on; and the American Legion Auxiliary, 1980 on. She was a Notary Public 1974 on, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, 1981 on and a member of St. Agnes Church, 1982 on.
She retired from the Adirondack Medical Center- in 1995 after having held the position of Secretary to the Vice President of Nursing and the Nursing Office since 1982.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorraine E. Link, Plano, TX, by a former marriage to Vincent F. Link; her companion Thomas Kurtz, Sr. of Lake Placid, several niece and nephews including Marlene Lawson, Albany, NY Barbara Mainville, St. Augustine, FL, Mary Eldrett of Watertown, Nancy Cavallaro of Connecticut, Katie Eldrett of Phoenix, NV and one nephew are James Brown, Palm City, FL and several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Hattie B. Woehrle of Colonie, NY and Janet B. Eldrett of Watertown, NY and a brother Harry M. Brown of Port Henry, NY. She was also predeceased by nieces and nephews Dolores Novak, Schenectady, NY, Helen Eldrette Watertown, NY and David Brown, Tacoma, WA.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be held at St. Agnes Church, in Lake Placid, NY at a later date and time to be announced.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Agnes Church in care of Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. The burial will be at the Notre Dame Cemetery, Malone, NY following the Memorial Service.
