Vincent Elias Pelletieri, age 91, of 78 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake, died at his home Monday, September 09, 2013.
Born in Utica, New York on February 19, 1922, he was the son of Elias and Rocktella (Cavallo) Pelletieri. He married Elizabeth Rita Sullivan on September 18, 1954 at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake.
Vinnie was a partner at the Belvedere Restaurant in Saranac Lake from 1947 to 1964. He owned and operated Mark’s Bar and Grill from 1964 to 1984. Some of his fondest memories as proprietor of Mark's were hosting the Ottawa Irish Rugby team every summer. They adopted “Mark's” as their home away from home and had many lakeside parties at Kiwassa. Over the subsequent years, Vinnie and Sully traveled to Ottawa keeping in touch with their rugby friends. He was very proud of his women's softball team, “Vinnie Vamps,” and truly loved all his vamps. The men's team “Mark's Bar and Grill” enjoyed annual trips to Old Forge, NY for a softball tournament, where his brother Gene threw a mean pool party. He sponsored countless little league teams and was an avid supporter of youth athletics. Vinnie was fortunate to have close friends that always found the time to take him on sporting adventures, whether to Lake Ontario fishing or to the Southern tier to hunt. He opened his home every Christmas for all the patrons of Mark's. Old Sully and Teddybear were always at the kitchen table Christmas morning.
Vinnie was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II from 1942 to 1945 and again during the Korean Conflict 1951 to 1952. He was a life time member of the Saranac Lake Elks’ Club BPOE 1508, Saranac Lake Moose Club, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Vinnie was a lifetime member of the East Branch Hunting Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Sully,” two daughters Winifred Pelletieri and her husband James Catania of Dania Beach, FL, Mary Agnes Pelletieri and her husband Dan Reilly of Saranac Lake, three sons Elias "Allie" Pelletieri and his wife Tammy of Saranac Lake, Philip Pelletieri and his wife Mary Beth of Saranac Lake, and Vincent Pelletieri and his partner Michelle St. Amand of Saranac Lake, two brothers Richard Pelletieri of Racine, WI, and Eugene Pelletieri of Liverpool, 6 Grandchildren; Maria, Hannah, Nikolas, Zoe, Zane and Bianca and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
