Margaret Paye

Margaret L. Paye, age 89, of 50 Payville Lane, Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on December 18, 1925, she was the daughter of Charles and Mae (Foster) Phillips. She married George Paye in March of 1944 Saranac Lake. George predeceased her on June 16, 1990.

Margaret had been a life long resident of Saranac Lake and had been employed at Troy Laundry, Adirondack daily Enterprise and served as a foster Grandparent at Saranac Lake Head Start Program. She especially enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking.

She is survived by three sons George Paye and his wife Vicki of Saranac Lake, Bill Paye and his companion Irene Snyder of Saranac Lake, Steve Paye and his wife Muriel of Asheboro, NC, two daughters Linda Grayson and her husband Jon of Orange City, FL and Barbara Kent of Saranac Lake, one sister Daisy Gioeni of Albany, 12 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers Clarence, Charles and George Phillips, five sisters Alvira Winch, Hazel Sears, Gladys Smith, Sara Griffin, and Alice Matthews, one grandson Johnny Kent, one brother-in-law Orville Paye, and one sister-in-law Christina Sitterly. She will be greatly missed by her best friend Buffy.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with Rev. Anne S. Gaillard officiating. Burial will take place at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake in the spring.
