Brad Patrick Parker, age 65, of Vermontville, died Friday, September 16, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Plattsburgh, New York on February 24, 1957, he was the son of Clarence and Edith (Hughes) Parker.
Brad married Colleen Coady on September 2, 1989 at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy.
Brad was employed by the New York State Department of Corrections for over 30 years until his retirement from Adirondack Correctional Facility in 2016. He had also worked for the Federal Correctional Institution in Ray Brook in the 1980’s. Brad owned and operated his property management company BP Enterprises, which included caretaking for many properties. Following his retirement from corrections he spent time working as a private duty security officer. Brad had a strong work ethic and ability to fix or build almost anything.
Brad was an avid golfer, fisherman, woodworker, animal lover, and classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed craft beer, music, and walks on Norman Ridge with his family and pups. Brad also enjoyed traveling with his family; they shared many unforgettable trips and adventures. Brad was a member of the Bloomingdale Knights of Columbus, and he was quick to volunteer where needed. He was always ready to lend a hand and always happy to visit. Brad had a wonderful sense of humor and seeing him would brighten your day; he was loved by many. Part of a large close-knit family, Brad enjoyed spending time with his loved ones above all else.
Brad remained courageous, resilient and optimistic during his battle with Esophageal Cancer throughout 2022. Sadly the cancer recently spread in the rare form of Leptomeningeal Disease.
He is survived by his beloved wife Colleen; two loving daughters Hannah and Megan Parker; his devoted mother Edith Parker; sister Lori (Timothy) Carpenter; sister Brenda (Michael) Lamora; brother David (Susan) Parker; brother Brian Parker; sister Julie (Richard) Myers; and sister Marla (Jeffrey) Chauvin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Parker.
Calling hours are set to take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Thursday September 22, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial is set to take place at 11:00 AM on Friday September 23, at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the Red Fox Restaurant in Saranac Lake.
