LONG LAKE- Avis Parker, 93, of Long Lake died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. She had resided there since July 2008. Born on October 24, 1917 in Long Lake. She was the daughter of Arthur and Lenora (Lovejoy) Stanton. A lifelong resident of Long Lake, she was married to Robert D. Parker. For several years, Avis waitressed at the Lakeside Lodge in Long Lake. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Red hats and a former member of the Long lake ladies fireman's Auxiliary. She is survived by one son Edward and his wife Helen of Henderson, NV, two daughters; Roberta Nadeau and her husband Brian of Long Lake, Kathie Seim of St. George, VT, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband in 1970 and a granddaughter, Dawn Renee` Blanchard. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Long lake on Saturday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Long Lake cemetery.
