Helen I. Muncil, age 89, of 87 Santanoni Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 87 Santanoni Ave, Saranac Lake, NY surrounded by her family.

Born in Standish, New York on May 20, 1924, she was the daughter of Jospeh and Rose (Rule) McCormick. Helen, married Raymond Muncil on October 6, 1943 in St. Bernards Church, Saranac Lake. Raymond predeceased Helen in 1991.

Helen worked for North Country Community College for 20 years, retiring in 2011. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary, the Womens Civic Chamber, the St. Bernards School Mothers Club and the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Bernard

She is survived by a son: Ronald Muncil (Laurie) of Saranac Lake, NY, five daughters: Rosemary Brennan (Craig) of Carthage, NY, Judith Post of Watertown, NY, Susan VanDien (Peter) of Saranac Lake, NY, Debra Hewitt of Plattsburgh, NY, and Darlene McDermott (James) of Waxahachie, TX, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one brother: Dickie McCormick of Saranac Lake, NY, five sisters: Vivian Eccleston of Saranac Lake, NY, Kathleen Becker of Manorsville, NY, Eileen Slate of Gouverneur, NY, Sharon Barry of Saranac Lake, NYand Donna Moody of Chazy Lake, NY, several nieces and nephews and her loving cat of 13 years, Polly. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her father Jospeh McCormick, her mother Rose Rule, her sons: Raymond Muncil and Michael Muncil, three brothers and two sisters.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A Catholic Daughters Rosary Service will take place at 7:45PM Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place November 13, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Bernard's Church., with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
