Julie B. Montgomery, age 73, of Chickadee Lane, Lake Placid, NY died Thursday, June 09, 2011 at her home.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 22, 1937, she was the daughter of Hazen and Julia (Quinn) Schumacher.
Julie graduated from high school from the Ursaline Academy in Ohio and she later attended the University of Michigan. After living in Greenwich Village, NY and Bayshore, NY, Julie moved to Lake Placid with her husband, Lynn D. Montgomery. Her husband, an architect who designed the Shipman Youth Center in Lake Placid, predeceased her in 1998. In 2000, she joined the staff of Lake Placid Public Library, and worked there until January 2011. Julie loved Lake Placid and the people, her involvement with the Sinfonietta, and her work at the library. These were the happiest years of her life.
Julie is survived by her brother, Hazen Schumacher of Ann Arbor, MI, sister Nancy O’Shea of San Francisco, CA, nieces Jane Sirignano of Goshen, CT and Nancy Anne Walter of Farmington Hills, MI, in addition to nine other nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews. During the last months of her life, Julie was lovingly and devotedly cared for by her brother and sister, two nieces, as well as Hospice, caregivers and friends.
