Richard Lee Moeller of Tupper Lake, NY passed away on July 25th, 2011 while a resident of Mercy Healthcare. Richard was born on Dec 30, 1935 to Peter and Elsie Ploof Moeller of Tupper Lake. He attended Tupper Lake High School and enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and served honorably from 1953 to 1956 attaining the rank of sergeant. He returned to Tupper Lake and married Eleanor McKillip from Saranac Lake on Jan. 19, 1957.
Richard began working for the A&P Tea Company in Saranac Lake after returning from the service. He would eventually be transferred to the A&P store in Tupper Lake where he would become its manager. Richard also worked for the Stewarts Shops Corp and for the Tupper Lake Adult Center before he retired in 2006. Richard married Nancy Spinner on July 15th, 2006.
Richard served the local community as a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 11 in the 1960s and 1970s. He also served for many years as a member and Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 2177, as a member and Commander of American Legion Post 220 of Tupper Lake and as a member and Commander of the Adirondack Leatherneck Chapter of the Marine Corps League.
Richard was predeceased by his parents and a son James.
Surviving are his wife Nancy , a sister Taffy Mace and her husband David and their children Heather and Kim.
Also surviving are his nine children, eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They include:

son Timothy Moeller and wife Michelle and their children Nicholas and Shawn
son Terry Moeller and his wife Wendy and their daughter Marissa
son Richard G. Moeller and his wife Becky and their children Amanda and Jacob
Calling hours will be at the Stuart- Fortune- Keough Funeral Home on Thursday July 28th from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A short service will be held at the funeral home at 5:45 pm. Burial will follow at 6:30 pm at the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adirondack Leatherneck Chapter of the Marine Corps League in care of the funeral home.
