TUPPER LAKE- Vincent A. Mitchell, 81, of Tupper Lake, passed away, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born February 20, 1929 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Arthur and Grace (LaVigne) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell attended local schools and married Fredolyn A. LaVallee on May 29, 1950 at Holy Name Church. Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong woodsman. He worked for Elliott Hardwoods as Road Superintendent for 14 years. Owned and Operated Mitchell's Chain Saw with his son for 5 years and was employed by his son Paul until he retired in 1991. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed gardening and hunting and belonged to the Outlet hunting club on Follensby Park for several years. He is survived by his wife Fredolyn of 60 years, four daughters ; Ann Hoover and her husband Bill, Collette Choate and her husband Matthew, Donna LaMere and her husband Christopher, Danielle Poirier and her partner Kathy Matrese and one son, Paul and his wife Mary. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two brothers and three sisters. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 11 from 3 to 5 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Church. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus cemetery.
