Gordon W. Miner, Sr., age 95, of 256 McComb Street, Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, October 07, 2014 at 5 Trudeau Road

Born in Lyon Mountain, New York on May 20, 1919, he was the son of Edward and Freda (Durett) Miner. Gordon married Elizabeth Smith on July 12, 1939 in St. Bernard's Church. She predeceased him on September 2, 1995.

Gordon is a life long resident of the area and had worked for various area businesses including the Village of Saranac Lake. He is a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II serving in Ardennes, central Europe and Rhineland. He received several decorations and citations including the Distinguished Unit Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, and a Purple Heart.

He is survived by five children Jackie Martin and her husband Robert of Saranac Lake, James Miner of Tupper Lake, Donald Miner of Coopersburg, PA, Gordon Miner and his wife Beverly of South Carolina and Colleen Harvey and her husband Gregg of Saranac Lake, 21 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one son Robert, four brothers Roland, Claud, Dean and Girard and three sisters Patricia Sawyer, Catherine Ball and Helen Smith.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday October 11, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake with Rev. Thomas Higman officiating.
