Franklin Miller

October 31, 1932 — March 24, 2011

Franklin R. Miller, 78, of Ridge Way, Saranac Lake, passed away March 24, 2011 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in 1932, in Buffalo N.Y he was the son of Robert and Cleo (Howden) Miller.

Frank attended Erie Community College, earning a degree in electrical engineering, after serving with the US Army in the Korean War. Prior to his service to his country he played Professional Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals AAA Team. Frank worked for New York State Electric and Gas as a lineman supervisor for over 30 years and after his retirement he and Nancy loving the Adirondacks and skating relocated to the North Country and worked for the Saranac Lake High School Custodial Department.

Frank loved to golf and fish and was very active with Speed Skating. He helped develop the Depew Recreation Learn to skate program, was a Coach to all of his sons, Officiated many National, International and World Speed Skating events and with his wife Nancy and served as a Doping Control Steward for the Speed Skating Events at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid.

Frank was predeceased by his wife Nancy Joan Miller of Depew N.Y. and was husband to the late Jane Gowan Miller of Saranac Lake who is survived by her daughters Theresa and Colleen Gowan of Saranac Lake. Brother Douglas Miller of Florida.

Frank is survived by his four sons, Michael P. Miller his wife Robin; daughters Krissa and Karli Miller of Lake Placid, Edward (Chip) K. Miller and his wife Kim; sons Justin and Joshua Miller of Depew, N.Y., Thomas E. Miller of Lake Placid and James F. Miller Companion Kim Sitzman and Jim’s children; son Collin and daughter Hayley Miller of North Collins, N.Y.. Brother Charles (Chuck) Miller of Kentucky.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Family members will be greeting friends on Saturday April 2nd from 1:00 – 4:00 at the funeral home.
