Adele Mikesell born June 17, 1931 in Tupper Lake to the late Alfred and Fadwa Khechen Aseel, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 shortly after her admission to the Uihlein Mercy Nursing Home in Lake Placid. Prior to Uihlein, she resided at Keene Valley Neighborhood House. She made and treasured many good friendships during the ten years she lived there. She leaves behind her beloved son Rick Alasal, granddaughter Alicia Skelnik, and two great-grandchildren Alex and Leah, all the light of her life. She also leaves and will be dearly missed by her loving brother Alfred Aseel of Tupper Lake, sisters; Alfreda Bradt of Canton, Ellen Maroun of Tupper Lake, Linda Kahn of Ausable and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She dearly loved to hear and enjoyed telling others the stories of their adventures. She was pre-deceased in 1932 by her brother John.
Adele retired to Florida in 1992 after many years as a Nursing Home Administrator for Beverly Enterprises in Michigan. Following a series of major health setbacks she returned to the Adirondacks in 1994 to be closer to her siblings. She often sung the praises of the Adirondack region, and how happy she was to be able to enjoy its peace and beauty despite her significant disabilities and subsequent confinement.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. Adele was a wonderful reflection of her father’s generosity sharing all and anything she had with others. In that spirit, the family asks that those wishing to honor her memory, make a donation to the Tupper Lake Community Food Pantry, 179 Demars Blvd., Tupper Lake, NY 12986.
Oh yes, she lost her love of chocolate.
