Sandra J Mihill, 77 of Lake Placid died peacefully surrounded by her family at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake on Sunday July 2, 2023.
She was born July 28, 1945 to George and Louis Kilburn in Lake Placid.
Sandy was born and raised in Lake Placid and attended Lake Placid High School. She spent her younger year’s bartending at the American Legion and the Chubb River. She was known to sing Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and other classic country music. Sandy was a part of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed creating many events at the legion with Marion Shipman, Peggy Nugent, Dede Strack, Pat Daby, Lorraine Statts, Diane Santana, Lynda Despourdy and many more. She also loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sandy always took stray animals and children in as her own, and wasn’t afraid to tell you like it was.
She was pre deceased by her loving husband Allen Mihill whom they shared 60 plus years together. Together they raised their 4 child and numerous animals. Including their beloved dog Baby. She was also pre deceased by her siblings Tony, Gene, Pricilla, Valarie (Kilburn) and her son in law’s Tom Riedl and Larry Euber.
Sandy is also survived by her children Tammy Riedl, Shawn Mihill Kilburn, and Damon & Shelly Mihill all of Lake Placid and Samantha Euber of Saranac Lake. Her step daughter Matoaka Rodier of Saratoga Springs. Her siblings Lolly Chainao, Sharon, Jackie, William and Joe Kilburn. Her loving grandchildren Jamie Costa, Tanner Currier, Ali Mihill, Amber & Donald Herzog, Matoaka Riedl & Rob Barlo, Cheyenne & Rob Lewis and her 9 great grandchildren who were her world and longtime family friend Sharron Nugent.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday July 9, 2023 at 4 p.m. at the American Legion in Lake Placid.
