Robert Meyer

May 8, 1947 — July 22, 2022

Robert M. "Bob" “Kahuna” Meyer, age 75, of Saranac Lake, NY and formerly of North Bergen, NJ passed away on July 22, 2022 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY after a brief illness.

Robert was born on May 8, 1947 in Christ Hospital, Jersey City, NJ to Robert and Mae (Just) Meyer.

Robert grew up and spent half his life in New Jersey where he served in the Air Force and then went on to open us a successful towing business called “Tow Master”, all before relocating to the place that he truly loved, the Adirondack Mountains, Tupper Lake, NY. He then moved to Saranac Lake, where he has lived for the last several years. While living in the Adirondacks he ran his own business, North Country Auto Appraisal and then went on to do what he loved, driving for Ground Force One Limo service in Lake Placid. There he met many people and made some life long friends before retiring two years ago.

Robert is survived by his former wife, Cecelia Meyer of Saranac Lake, and his life-long partner Susan Petty also of Saranac Lake. He is also survived by two sons and two daughters: Robert (Lisa) Meyer, Michael (Robin) Meyer, Jennifer Meyer and Victoria Fuller and two step-sons Sean Petty and Robert Petty. Robert is also survived by his grandchildren: Brandon, Ryan, Justin, Kylee, Brooke, Kyle, Cameron, Justin, Jailen, Juliana, Jade and Jake and one Great granddaughter, Ellania Margaret born on July 21, 2022.

Kahuna as he was known to almost everyone, had a huge heart for anyone he loved, and to know him was to love him. He loved the mountains and was extremely fond of animals.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Robert’s request, there will be no funeral services. Family and friends wishing to remember Robert M. “Kahuna” Meyer may make memorial donations to the Fisher House Foundation (who builds comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital), in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
