Eleanor Mead

June 24, 1927 — December 7, 2014

Eleanor Louise (Frizzell) Mead, 87 of Lake Clear, NY, passed away surrounded by her family on December 7, 2014. She is predeceased by her husband, Earl F. Mead and survived by their 4 children: Julie Dowling of Olmstedville, NY, Kathleen Fink and Christopher Early of Saranac Lake, NY, Michael Mead and his wife Donna Mead of Port Jervis, NY, Patrick Mead and his wife Kim Mead of Fairbanks, AK, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grand children, one sister Rita Colaiaco and one brother, Raymond Frizzell and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Port Jervis, NY in 1927. She married Earl and they raised their four children in the Port Jervis, NY area. Eleanor obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Empire State College in 1979. She taught art at the elementary school level for several years and worked with the Port Jervis Historical Society capturing and preserving the local history.

Eleanor and Earl moved to Clarkdale, AZ in 1987. The southwest inspired new directions in her art: Native American pottery, water colors, and photography were her main pursuits. Eleanor's art was displayed in several prominent art galleries throughout Sedona, Jerome and Cottonwood, AZ.

In 2007 Eleanor moved to Saranac Lake, NY to be closer to family. She enjoyed exploring the natural beauty of the Adirondacks and continued with her artwork.

After a brief illness, Eleanor moved to The Saranac Village at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake, NY for her final days.
