Robert John McIntyre, 85, of Burlington, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2021 at his
home under the loving care of his wife Bonnie and Hospice Care of Burlington.
Bob was born on February 24, 1936 in Columbus, OH to the late Richard and Teresa McIntyre and grew
up in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. The family moved to their summer home in the Adirondacks on the
Forestdale Road in AuSable Forks, NY in 1950. Bob graduated from the Saranac Lake High School in
the Class of 1954.
Following high school Bob helped run his father’s shoe store, Factory Surplus Shoes on Route 9 north of
Plattsburgh until the late 1960’s when he went to work at Plattsburgh State University College as a
supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
Bob was very devoted to his Catholic faith having been most recently a communicant of Blessed
Sacrament Church in Burlington and an active Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus. He
particularly had many fond memories of the times spent with his brother knights of the
Bloomingdale/Gabriels Council 7803.
Besides his wife Bonnie, Bob is survived by his daughter Barbara (David) Growhoski of Easthampton
MA; son-in-law Ted Drozd of Toms River, NJ; son Richard (Theresa) of Rochester; son William
(Francine) of Saranac Lake and daughter Jan (Jake) McKernan of Chandler, AZ; his grandchildren:
Laura, Claire and David Drozd of Toms River, NJ; Sarah (Jesus) Juarez of Lawrenceville, NJ; Nathan
and Grace McIntyre of Rochester; Aidan and Evan McKernan of Chandler, AZ; and many nieces and
nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Marie in August 1980; daughter Donna in August of 2010; brother
Donald and sister Kathleen Manor.
The family requests that those who wish to remember Bob to please consider a donation to their local
Hospice Care or a Mass of intention.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for June 26, 2021 at 11:00am in St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, NY with the Reverend Kevin McEwan officiating. Burial will be immediately following the mass at St. Matthew's Cemetery in Black Brook, NY.
