James Rae Watson McCartney Jr.- March 16,1930 – May 27, 2011. Born in Saranac Lake, New York and a lifelong resident of Tupper Lake, New York, Jim was born to the late James Rae Watson McCartney Sr. and Marie Sadler McCartney. He was predeceased by a son, Michael McCartney, born July 6, 1959.
Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his family members at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Jim’s life will be celebrated forever by his wife of over 50 years, Judith Walsemann McCartney, his children, James R McCartney III (and his wife, Tricia), Gregory McCartney (and his wife, Andrea), Eric McCartney (and his wife, Erin), Melissa McCartney Mitchell (and her husband, James Mitchell), his grandchildren, James R. McCartney IV, Meghan McCartney, Michael McCartney, Aidan McCartney, Colin McCartney, Nathaniel Mitchell, and Quinn Mitchell, and his step grandchildren, Heather Gallaher (and her husband, Patrick), Sean Perkins (and his wife, Kayla), and step great grandson, Brody Gallaher.
During his 81 years, Jim brightened the lives of others through his unwavering commitment to his family, his friends, and his community, and through his trademark “Irish” sense of humor. Together with his wife, Judy, Jim owned and operated McCartney’s Clothing store, a landmark for many in the Tupper Lake community for decades.
Friends and family members are invited to attend Jim’s wake on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 24 Cliff Avenue, Tupper Lake, NY (518) 359-9311. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 11:00 am at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, New York.
Friends and family are invited to a reception in Jim’s honor immediately following the interment at the Tupper Lake Country Club.
