Brendan C. McCann, age 89, of Vermontville, NY passed away at the University of Vermont, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY on Wednesday September 6, 2023 with his family by his side.

Brendan was born at on September 7, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY the son of William and Florence (Ebert) McCann. He married his lifelong love Eugenia Wojcik on June 7, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY.

Brendan grew up in Brooklyn, he earned his associates degree and worked at NJ Office Supply for many years and as an accounts manager at Staples in Hackensack, NJ. He was a veteran of the Koren War serving in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1955 when he was honorably discharged. He moved to Ringwood, NJ to raise his family until 1976 when he returned to Queens, NY. He and his wife retired to Saranac Lake in 2000 to be near their grandchildren, working at the Four Corners Diner in Bloomingdale as the “P.R. manager” where he loved seeing his many friends.

Brendan was a member of St. Bernard’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Peter Ward Council in Bloomingdale, NY.

Brendan is survived by his daughter Andrea Swinyer of Vermontville, NY; 3 grandsons: Trevor Swinyer (Andrea Jiron), Brett Bruso, and Albert Bruso III, his sister Mary Rutherford of South Burlington, Vt. and many nieces and nephews as well as his best friend “Babe” who was always by his side.

Brendan was preceded in death by his wife Jean, two sons: Joseph and Brendan McCann, his brother Peter McCann as well as his mother and father.

Funeral Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Calling hours are scheduled on Monday September 11, 2023 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm. A Prayer service will be held at 1:00pm at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Kelly officiating Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the family plot at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing, NY.

McCann with a memorial contribution to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad or the High Peaks Hospice in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
