Helen M. May, age 89, of Saranac Village at Will Rogers, Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.
Born in Onondaga, New York on October 18, 1930, she was the daughter of Grover and Celia (Cornish) Case. Helen married Richard May on Saturday, September 26, 1953 in Marcellus, New York. Richard predeceased her on April 11, 2017.
Helen and Dick moved to Saranac Lake in 1985, where they owned and operated the Adirondack Motel and The Cottage, a Bed and Breakfast for many years. Helen also volunteer for High Peaks Hospice in Saranac Lake for many years and especially loved gardening.
She is survived by three sons, William (Karen) May of Ellicott City, MD, Kenneth (Zeny) May of St. Joseph, MI, Richard May of Malone, two daughters Connie Dewbury of Malone and Linda Charette of Saranac Lake, 7 grandchildren, Erik, Erica, Anna, Joseph, Adam, Jessica (Hugo), Ashlee, and eight great-grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, four sisters Hazel, Dora, Laura, and Inez and one son-in-law Gordon Dewbury.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Due to COVID 19 restrictions there will be no public calling hours. Funeral services for Helen will be webcast / live streamed at 2:00 PM on Friday April 24st on our web page at fortunekeoughfuneralhome.com and on our facebook page. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.
