Mary Durkee Klaproth, age 83, formerly of Lake clear and Bloomingdale, and currently of Ellenburg Depot, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Saranac Lake, NY on May2, 1941, she was the daughter of Howard and Hazel (Minnie) Strack. 

Mary attended and graduated from Saranac Lake High School. She was a member of St. Denis and St Columbus Churches. One of Mary’s favorite things to do was to spend time with her family and friends. She loved to read, play cards, cook and bake. She will be fondly remembered for her loving kindness that she freely shared with everyone in need.

She is survived by her husband Carl Klaproth, two daughters Darlene Burlingame, and Doreen (Henry) Knapp. Two stepdaughters, Sheri (Billy) Woolley, Betsy (Matt) Allgauer. Two stepsons, Carl (Rebecca) Klaproth, Lance (Becky) Klaproth. 18 grandchildren, Roland (Stacey) Burlingame, Stephanie (Bill) Krasowsky, Carrie Ann Knapp, Debra (Trevor) Brow, Henry (Nicole) Knapp, Christine (John)Avery, William (Victoria) Woolley, Shane (Rachel) Klaproth, Courtney (Kyle) McAllister, and Monica Klaproth. 12 great grandchildren, Olivia and Finley Burlingame, Gayla and Tiah Krasowsky, Dana (Chris) Goss, Hunter (Jasmin) Goss, Marcus Goss, Bryn and TJ Brow, Aubrey Avery, and 4 great, great grandchildren Kadence, Mariah, Ryleigh, and Jaxon She is also survived by four brothers, Howard (Marie) Strack, Charles (Jan) Strack, Albert Strack, Steve (Cindy) Strack. and her best friend Alfreda Tillman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Dana Durkee and two brothers Stanley and Bobby Strack. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family.
