Simone Martin

Simone A. Martin, 83, of Tupper Lake, passed away on September 22, 2012 at Mercy Living Center, in Tupper Lake.

Born in Tupper Lake on April 2, 1929, she was the daughter of Napoleon and Mary Paiement.

Simone was married to Edward A. Martin on July 19, 1949 at the Holy Name Church by Father Finnegan.

Her family was always the most important thing to her and she was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an excellent cook, and as her children got older, she enjoyed preparing meals at the Big Tupper Ski Area and at the Red Top Restaurant in Tupper Lake. In her later years, she and her husband Edward became caretakers at Debar Mountain Park in Malone and for several camps at Big Wolf Lake in Tupper Lake.

An accomplished seamstress, painter and gardener, she was very proud to open her own gift shop, Si’s Treasures and More, in 2008. She enjoyed filling her store with treasures she made, bought or commissioned and visiting with the many people who stopped in.

Survivors include, Six sons, Robert of West Palm Beach FL, Thomas and his wife, Sun of Jupiter FL, Joseph and his wife Hazel of Ijamsville, MD and Brisbane, Australia, Raymond and his wife Lori (Brunette), Richard and his wife Diane (Snyder) of Tupper Lake, and Edward and his wife Dawn of FL, Three daughters, Anne and her husband Paul Shanahan of Lake Forest, CA, Jean and her husband Charles Daigle of Las Vegas, and Rebecca and her husband Paul Sipler of Conifer, three sisters, Cheryl Gallagher of UT, Issy Pingo of FL and Edna Somers of FL, also 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Edward , a son Henry (Hankie), daughter- in- law Lee, and two brother s, Art and Paul (Spike) Paiement.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 1:00 on Tuesday, September 25th at the Stuart- Fortune -Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake, followed by a burial at the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
