Robert A. Martin, age 80, of 5 Trudeau Road, Saranac Lake, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on March 16, 1935, he was the son of John and Dorothy (St. Louis) Martin. Robert married Jacqueline Miner on June 28, 1958 at St. Bernard’s Church.

Robert was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and had been employed by the Village of Saranac Lake for 31 years from 1959 until he retired in 1990 as the Superintendent of Public Works. He was a member of the Saranac Lake Elks Club BPOE 1508 and the Saranac Lake Moose Club. In recent years Robert enjoyed working on puzzles and crafts out in his garage. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the New York State National Guard for many years.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Martin of Saranac Lake, one son Christopher Martin and his wife Jennifer of New Milford, CT, and one daughter Michelle Kentile of Saranac Lake; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one sister Betty Jean Martin of Saranac Lake, two daughter-in-law’s Sarah Martin of Malone and Wendy Martin of Saranac Lake and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons Robert and Dennis Martin, three sisters Virginia Bowen, Joan Ormsby and Dorothy Sexton, four brothers Donald Martin, Pete Martin, Albert Terrio, and Preston Burl.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday November 2, 2015 at St. Bernard's Cemetery.
