Agnes Martin

August 5, 1915 — September 30, 2010

Agnes M. Martin, age 95, of State Route 86, Gabriels, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Malone, New York on August 05, 1915, she was the daughter of Frank and Lola (Sprague) Murphy. She married Leander Martin of Gabriels October 31, 1039 and resided there all her life. She was predeceased by her husband in 1992.

Mrs. Martin grew up in Malone, NY where she attended Franklin Academy. She was a homemaker all her life. Mrs. Martin was a communicant of Church of the Assumption in Gabriels and also active member of the Senior Citizens of the Town of Brighton. She particularly enjoyed her weekly Bible Study class at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters Leandra Martin Williams and Sandra Martin Townsend both of New Jersey and a son Peter Martin of St. Regis Falls, NY. She is also survived by her sister Mary LaVoie of North Bangor, NY, eight grandchildren Jennifer Assante, Bethany Juckett, Raymond Gormley, Alethia Wallace, Ashley Marion, Peter Martin, Jr., Matthew Martin and Gavin Martin, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son Allen in 1947, her sisters Charlotte Murphy McDonald and Hazel Murphy Bellows both of Malone and three brothers Frank, Willard and Earle.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday October 4, 2010, at Church of the Assumption in Gabriels. Burial will follow at Mt. View/Brighton Cemetery.
