Edgar Madore

June 13, 1942 — February 28, 2009

TUPPER LAKE-Edgar “Butch” Madore Jr., 66, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009 in Tupper Lake NY. He was born in Tupper Lake on the 13th of June 1942 to Edgar and Alice (Gokey) Madore Sr. From 1964 -1965 he served in United States Army stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. Edgar was a Specialist 4 working with heavy artillery and the M60 tank. The army was where his love for heavy equipment began.

On October 22, 1966, Edgar was married to the late Donna Jane Gillis. Three sons were born to the marriage, Gary, Jeffrey and Robert.

The beloved father, husband, son and friend, devoted his life to working in the Adirondacks as a general contractor building homes, camps and numerous projects all around the Adirondacks. He took great pride in his work and as he explained it “America Ingenuity”. Edgar took every job as a challenge and cherished each completed project. Edgar was a member of the VFW Post 3120.

Edgar was preceded in death by his father Edgar Madore Sr. and Donna Jane Madore. Edgar leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother Alice Madore of Tupper Lake, brothers Marvin and his wife Nancy Madore of Tupper Lake, John Madore, sisters Rita Madore of Tupper lake, Tammy Prater and her husband Danny of Dover Plains NY., and Mary Servant and her Husband Ed of North Harland, Vermont. Three sons, Gary and his wife Treva and grandsons Garrett and Hunter of the Woodlands, Texas, son Jeffery Madore of Saratoga NY, son Robert Madore and Erica Martin along with grandchildren Brock, Gage and Honna of Tupper Lake, and a host of other loved ones and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 4th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm with a funeral service at 8pm at the Stuart- Fortune-Keough Funeral home. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus cemetery in May with full military honors. Memorial Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to High Peaks Hospice.
