Rita Madden

Word has been received of the death of Rita F. Sageman Madden, of Saranac Lake, who died peacefully on Wednesday October 25, 2023 at her daughters home in Merritt Island, FL, with her daughters by her side.

Born in Brockton, MA on October 3, 1925, she was the daughter of Albert and Annie Fleury . Rita married William F. Madden, Jr. on October 15, 1992 in Saranac Lake. He predeceased her on April 19, 2013.

She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Purga of Merritt Island, FL and Pamela and Guy Little, of Ormond Beach, FL, one son Barry Sageman of Ft. Myers, FL two step-sons William Madden, III and Michael Madden both of Saranac Lake, one step-daughter Mary Catherine Madden-Heisler of New Jersey and many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son C. Bradley Sagemen, Jr. and one daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Sageman.

Local arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in the spring at Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake.
