Theresa M. Macey, age 92, of Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at her home.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on May 14, 1923, she was the daughter of Edgar and Desneige "Marie" (Lalonde) St. Denis. Therese, married Gerald Macey on May 25, 1974 in Bloomingdale, New York. He predeceased her on March 3, 2015.
Theresa worked at the Montreal Children’s Hospital for 15 years. She later worked at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for 15 years until her retirement in 1985. She was a volunteer at the Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America Court 787 St. Bernard’s. Theresa is a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and had tapped danced and sang during the war for the Army GI Shows.
She is survived by one son Orville Benedict and one daughter Diane Benedict both of Montreal, one step son Gerald Macey of Saranac Lake, and one step daughter Diane Bezio and her husband Rick of Keeseville, 3 Grandchildren Ashley Macey, Lindsay Nixon, and Tiffany Killian and her husband Joe, 5 Great Grandchildren Elise, Alexandra, Joey, Gab and Kari,
She is also survived by one brother Joseph St. Denis and his wife Betty Lou of Cadyville, NY, three sisters Rita Brown of Zephyrhills, FL, Cecile Disotelle of Brushton, NY, and Angela Krawitz of Manchester, CT.
She was preceded in death by one son Ronnie and one grandson Shawn Gagnon.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM on Tuesday at St. Bernard’s Church with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
