Gerald G. Macey, age 63, of Saranac Lake, died Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 12, 1956, he was the son of Gerald and Gertrude (Slater) Macey.
Jerry was employed as a truck driver and crane operator at Maddens Transfer and Storage in Saranac Lake for over twenty five years until his retirement. He also owned and operated his own plowing and sanding business in Saranac Lake. Jerry is a past 25 year member of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department and prior to that 8 years with the Wilmington Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Saranac Lake Moose Club and SAL Sons of American Legion in Saranac Lake. Jerry especially loved fishing and gardening. He was also a member of St. Bernard's Church.
He is survived by three daughters Lindsay Nixon of Jay, Tiffany (Joe) Killian of Glens Falls and Ashleigh (Mathieu Castonguay) Macey of Lake Placid, seven grandchildren Kari, Elyse, Joseph, Gabriel, Alexandra, Grayson and Juliette, one sister Diane (Rick) Bezio of Keeseville, one step-brother Orville Benedict and one step-sister Diane Benedict both of Montreal. He was predeceased by his father, mother and step-mother Therese (St. Dennis) Macey and nephew Shawn Gagnon.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday March 15, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A fireman’s prayer service will take place at 5:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake.A reception will follow at the Saranac Lake Moose Club. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.
