Harriet Jane Stiles Lupino, age 86, formerly of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, February 09, 2011 at the Meadowbrook Nursing home in Plattsburgh.
Born in Hammond, New York on July 16, 1924, she was the daughter of Leroy and Harriet (Harland) Stiles. She married Fred Lupino June 28, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake. He predeceased her on 0June 26, 1978.
Harriet Graduated from Hammond high school 1942 and later attended and graduated from Crouse-Irving School of Nursing with degree as registered nurse in 1946. She worked for the State of New York at Ray Brook when TB hospital and then when it was Female Drug Rehabilitation Facility. She later worked at Sunmount for until her retirement in 1984. Harriet volunteered after retirement for many years for the American Red Cross and delivering Meals on Wheels. She was the organist at the First Presbyterian Church & Christian Science Society in Saranac Lake for many years. She also served as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member since 1950
She is survived by one son Anthony J. Lupino of Seattle, Washington; one daughter Ann G. Lupino of Peru, NY; six grandchildren: Derek C. Fortune of Rochester, NY; Duane A. Fortune of Grants Pass, Oregon; Jaclyn Coppolo Drollette and her husband Linus of Peru, NY, John A. Coppolo, Jr. of Lenoir, North Carolina, Ferris Lupino and Travis Lupino of Seattle, Washington whom Harriet enjoyed over the years. She couldn't do enough for the grandchildren and they were always welcome at her home. She is also survived by one great grandson Linus Bradan Drollette of Peru, NY. She was Predeceased by her mother in 1924 (2 weeks after giving birth to Harriet), her father in 1971, and one sister Jean George 1981
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place on Sat. Feb 19th at 1:00 pm at the First .Presbyterian Church in Saranac Lake.
