Louise M. Harris

Louise (Middleton) Harris, 97 passed peacefully at her apartment in Saranac Lake NY on December 30th. 

Louise was born in Norristown Pa. to Joseph Middleton and Eva Reifsnyder Middleton. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree from West Chester State Teachers College in education and taught kindergarten and first grade in the Tioga Center NY and Candor NY school districts. 

She was married to Vernon (Buck) Harris (deceased) for 52 years. They had two children, Debbie (Dan) Stoorza of Saranac Lake and Jeff (Jenny) Harris of Voorheesville, NY. Louise has 5 grandsons, Ryan (Keri) of York ME, Tad (Lisa) of Gunnison CO. Eric (Kat) of Santa Cruz CA, Keegan of Denver CO and Carson Harris of Voorheesville NY. She was GiGi (great grandma) to Kayleen, Colby, Kendall, Caitlin, Taiga and Neva. 

After retirement Louise volunteered at Adirondack Medical Center, Red Cross and Holiday Helpers. She was an avid crafter especially knitting. She got as much enjoyment from giving her crafts to friends and family as she did making them. 

Calling hours will be held Saturday January 11th from 2 –4 p.m. at Fortune Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to St. Luke’s Church Grace Pantry 136 Main St. Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
