Margaret Logie

Margaret Logie, 89, of Saranac Lake, NY passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday September 1st, 2009 at the Adirondack Medical Center. Margaret was born on July 22, 1920 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She met and fell in love with Allan Hunter Logie. They wed in 1939 in Rutherford Church outside Glasgow, Scotland. Margaret and Allan had four children (Margaret Wells, Lynn Strolz, Nick Logie, and Jenny McLaughlin). She had the opportunity to live Scotland, then Australia, and finally coming to Saranac Lake in April of 1966 as part of the redevelopment of Trudeau Institute.

Margaret volunteered for the Adirondack Medical Center for 36 years. She will be remembered during her over 14,000 hours of service for her sense of humor, caring smile, and warm brogue. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Margaret was Queen of the Winter Carnival Parade in 1996.She will be remembered for her kindness and her generosity. She supported community arts and music performances. She enjoyed local theatre even participated in several Pendragon performances. Finally she will be remembered for her many social gatherings and dinner parties.

Margaret is survived by her eldest child Margaret Wells of Australia., 3 grand children; Susan Cass of Perth, Australia, Alexander Logie of Tupper Lake, NY, and Kerry (McLaughlin) Trombly of Enosburgh Falls VT. She also survived by 6 great grand-children: Kyle and Aaron in Perth, Australia, Mason, Madelyn and Sawyer Logie of Tupper Lake, and Charlotte Trombly of Enosburgh Falls, VT.

Margaret joins in repose her husband, and three of her children Lynn, Nick, and Jennifer.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough funeral home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will be held Friday September 11th, 2009 at 6:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake. A gathering with light refreshments will be held immediately after in the fellowship hall.
