John Logan, 83, of Ray Brook, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.
Born in Mt. Vernon on March 5, 1930, he was the son of Albert and Ruth (Miller) Logan. John married Marion B. Blair on May 30 1969. She predeceased him on Nov. 20, 2013.
John has been a resident of Ray Brook since 1976 coming from Yonkers. Prior to moving to Ray Brook, he had been employed 20 years as a police officer for the Scarsdale Police Department in Scarsdale, where he attained the rank of detective sergeant. John is also a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1950 to 1954.
He is survived by one brother Albert Logan and his wife Elise of Englewood, Fla., brother-in-law Gerd Sommer of Underhill, Vt., niece Gale Spencer of Binghamton, niece Lori Tierney of Underhill, Vt,, nephew Isaac Logan of Santiago, Chile and niece Tobey Logan of North Port, Fla. and their children. John and Marion's faithful dog Buck also survive him. He leaves behind many good friends and neighbors in Ray Brook and Saranac Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Ruth Sommer and nephew Scott Sommer of Underhill, Vt.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville in the spring.
