Barbara A. Lewis, age 81, of 32 Fairview Ave., Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Adirondack Medical Center In Saranac Lake, New York.

Born in Canton, New York on November 14, 1929, she was the daughter of Glen and Sara (Reynolds) Allen. Barbara married Thomas N. Lewis on September 23, 1953 in Canton, New York.

Barbara had been employed at the American Management Association for 25 years until her retirement in 1990. She served as a volunteer at Adirondack Medical Center, member of St. Bernard's Parish and played in the Ladies Wednesday Night Golf League.

She is survived by her husband Thomas Lewis of Saranac Lake, NY, one daughter Shirley Davis of Saranac Lake, NY, one son Richard Lewis and his wife Sylvie Lemaire of Cornwall, Ontario, Sylvie's two daughters Natalie and Chantal Lemaire of Ottawa, Ontario, two grandchildren Briana and Michael Davis of Saranac Lake, NY, one brother Roger Allen and his wife Claire of Brantingham, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one brother Robert Allen.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 7PM - 9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday September 17, 2011 at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
