Margaret L. LaVigne,89, of Tupper Lake, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at the AMC Mercy Center in Tupper Lake with her two step-daughters and loving staff by her side. She had been a resident of Mercy since March of 2001. Born on October 10, 1920 in Montreal, Quebec. She was raised and finished secondary school in Montreal. She went on to Toronto where she received her Nursing degree. She was married to Brent Hollenbeck of Corey's, NY and lived and worked in Syracuse. Mr. Hollenbeck died in 1979. On May 22, 1982 she married Gordon (Cun) LaVigne and made their home on Water Street in Tupper Lake. Mrs. LaVigne was employed by Uhlein nursing home and later as a Diet Workshop Supervisor for the tri-lakes. She retired in 1988. Margaret was a member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and chaired the annual Poppy Drive. She and her husband Gordon traveled extensively through Northern Canada. Margaret was a fantastic cook and seamstress. She was very happy at Mercy and extremely grateful of her loving care provided to her by the staff at AMC Mercy. She will be missed by her family; two stepsons, Denis and his wife Dawn of Malone, Larry of Tupper Lake, three step daughters, Jancie and her husband Bruce Gonyea of Tupper Lake, Jean and her husband Steve Lanthier of Malone, Julie and her husband Mickey Kentile of Tupper Lake, grandchildren Kirk and Todd Lanthier, Lindsey and Larry LaVigne, Brock Gonyea, Sarah Bogett, Heidi Lanthier, Tiffany and Travis Kentile and Kylee Embt. Great Grandchildren, Paytin and Korryn Embt and Aliada and Braydon Bogett. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 29th from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at St Alphonsus church.
