Mae Lashway

Mae Elizabeth Lashway, age 96, formerly of Saranac Lake and currently of the Champlain Valley Senior Living Community in Willsboro, NY died Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at C.V.P.H Medical Center in Plattsburgh due to complications of Covid-19.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 6, 1924, she was the daughter of George and Inez (Laggett) Baker. Mae married Arthur F. Lashway, Jr. on Monday, January 7, 1946 in Saranac Lake. He predeceased her on June 21, 1983.

Mae had been a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and had been employed as a secretary for the New York State Department of Health for many years. Prior to that she was employed with Adirondack Bank. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Saranac Lake Free Library for 30 years and continued to be an avid reader till the end.

She is survived by one daughter Sandra Lashway of Ticonderoga, NY. A special thank you to all the caregivers over the past several years including Keene Valley Neighborhood House, Moses Ludington Adult home and her final home at Champlain Valley Senior Community. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in the spring at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery.
