Doris (Dolly) Converse LaRocque of Tupper Lake, died Saturday October 23, 2010 at AMC Mercy Center. She was born December 21, 1913 in Stockholm, NY, the daughter of Era and Lillian (Helms) Converse. She graduated from Potsdam High School and Potsdam Normal School with a degree in education. She taught school in the Potsdam area as well as several years in the Tupper Lake area schools. Dolly was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Charles LaRocque in 1962, a grandson Michael Copp, three sisters, Vera Converse, Evelyn Arquette and Velma Campbell. Dolly is survived by two sons; William of Tupper Lake, Joseph and his wife Deborah of Three Mile Bay, NY., two daughters; Nancy and her husband Ronald Snyder of Tupper Lake and Jean Copp of Vestal, NY. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Diane Martin, Charles Snyder, Lori Beyke, Danielle Lacombe and Marc LaRocque, eight great-grandchildren; Jamie Martin, Jennifer Tice, Rick Martin, Emily Copp, Alex and Elizabeth Lacombe, Jacob and Madilyn LaRocque and several nieces and nephews. Dolly was past president of the BPW, active in the Mercy General Hospital Auxiliary and AARP. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, cross country skiing and reading. She was an accomplished painter and bridge player. She especially enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday, October 26th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church, burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
