Richard Lapierre

November 3, 1934 — April 4, 2009

Richard C. LaPierre, 74, of 15 Woodland Drive Tupper Lake, passed away peacefully Saturday April 4, 2009 at Adirondack Medical Center. He was born in Tupper Lake on November 3, 1934, the son of Albert and Edna (Boardman) LaPierre.

He was united in marriage on September 6, 1952 to Jeannette Whitelaw of Saranac Lake. She predeceased him in September 1975. In 1978 he married Yvonne M. Crane of Gouverneur who now resides in Indiana.

Richard was a plumber by trade, owning and operating his own business for many years. He had attended the Tupper Lake Schools. He enjoyed bowling and crossword puzzles, and his collections of eagles and coins. He will long be remembered for his endless stories and quick wit.

He is survived by one son, Charles, of Saranac Lake; three daughters, Deborah Cox and her husband Marcel of Moira, Jenny Tozzi and her husband Don of Tucson Arizona, and Nan Hooley and her husband Jim of Saranac Lake; three step children, Gaile Menhennett and Darci Weber of Indiana, and Brian Latremore of Poughkeepsie; thirteen grandchildren, Jon, Teresa, Chris, Brian, Charles and James LaPierre, Carol Whitmore, Andrea Ivancic, Jennifer Niles, Alicia Rocha, Matthew Tozzi, Jackie and Mark Miller; six step-grandchildren, Ashley, Kyndra, Anthony, Elizabeth, Jeffrey and Karysta; twenty great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Jeannette, Lorraine, and Shirley; two brothers, Robert and Carlton, a son Kevin, a granddaughter Christy, and grandson Jason.

Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. In keeping with his wishes there will be a private ceremony with family. Friends wishing to remember Richard LaPierre may make donations to Adirondack Medical Center.
