It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and Grammy, Lana Hopseker, 76 of Saranac Lake. She died peacefully at home on November 12, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 20, 1947 in Saranac Lake, Lana was the daughter of Leland and Dorothy Daunais. She graduated from St. Pius Catholic school in 1966 and went on to work in retail for many years. Lana’s most important and cherished job however was taken care of her family.
Lana is survived by her husband Tom whom she married on May 17, 1975 at the Nazarene Church in Vermontville. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this coming year. Their love and devotion to one another is to be admired.
Lana is also survived by her three children: her son Shawn (Sarah) of Champlain, her son Brett of Bloomingdale and her daughter Trisha (Rocky) of Lake Placid. Her six grandchildren: Jacob, Liam, Lukas, Kinsley, Briella and Wyatt whom meant the absolute world to her. And her dog Vegas whom she cared for deeply. Lana was also blessed to have the love and support of her siblings who comforted her until the very end: her sister Sonja and brothers Lee and Allen.
Lana could find joy in the simplest things. She looked forward to her weekly trips to Will Rogers and going to yard sales in the summer. She loved sitting on the porch at home, watching the wildlife especially “her” deer who visited daily. She could feed them apples by hand and most would recognize her voice. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved traveling to Yankee Stadium with her daughter to watch them play or could be found watching every single game on tv. She looked forward to summer trips with her family to the beach or to visit them while camping. She attended as many school functions and sporting events as she could over the years for her kids and then grandkids. Lana’s love for her family was immense, she cared deeply for each and every one of them. Her heart was big and her love was strong. A bond that will never be broken. Lana was pre deceased by her parents and her brother in law Hugh Mullen.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. At Lana’s request there will be no services. A celebration of life will be open to the public at the Saranac Lake Moose Lodge on Saturday, December 7th.
