Carlton Vernon Lamoy, age 80 formerly of Old Lake Colby Road in Saranac Lake passed away April 3, 2010 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
He was born August 6, 1929 son of Forrest Sr. and Phoebe (Lenaghen) Lamoy.
Mr. Lamoy graduated in 1948 from Saranac Lake High School. He joined the US Navy serving two years with the Oceanographic Group One surveying bodies of water. He also served two years with the mobile construction BTN #7 until he was honorably discharged in 1955. He returned to Saranac Lake where he worked as a delivery driver for several years. He then went to work for the US Postal service retiring in 1990. He married Theola Ross on November 16, 1957 at St. Bernard’s Church. He was an active member of America Legion Post 447. He held many offices at the local and county level including Franklin County Commander of the American Legion 1965-66 and 1988-89. He also served as a delegate to 24 American Legion National Conventions. For many years Carlton was an avid bowler who enjoyed traveling to many state and national tournaments. Carlton passed on his passion of baseball and football to his daughter Ann.
He is survived by his wife, Theola; his daughters Theresa (Robert) Trudell of Saranac Lake and Ann Lamoy of Tacoma, WA. He was predeceased by his sisters Olive and Ellen and his brother Forrest (Frosty)Jr.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Tuesday April 6, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A veteran’s memorial service will take place Tuesday evening at 8:15 PM at the funeral home. Service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 AM with Pastor Maggie McCarey Officiating. Burial will be at the Harrietstown Cemetery following the service.
