Donna M. LaHart 61, passed away on Friday, 9/26/08, at her home on Church Pond in Saranac Inn. Born on March 9th, 1947 Donna Marie Miner was “one of nine” children of Claude Miner and Veronica Barry Miner of Lake Placid.
She attended Lake Placid Schools for 11 years before a transfer to St. Pius X took her away from many of her friends during her senior year. Donna married her husband John F. LaHart on September 21st. 1968. She worked as a business representative for New York Telephone in Saranac Lake and New England Telephone in West Warwick, RI. On moving to La Fayette, N.Y. Donna worked as Director of Religious Education in La Fayette, South Onondaga, and Otisco, for the Diocese of Syracuse. She was a court watcher for the League of Women Voters, volunteered at St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen, den mother for Pack 100, and made wonderful apple pies for the La Fayette Apple Festival.
Filling her role as “Domestic Goddess” she supported John as they moved from Warwick, RI to La Fayette, NY to Bethlehem, Pa to Wallingford, Ct to Abington, Md to Vestal, NY and back to Saranac Lake. She was support, friend, family leader and guide thru 40 years of marriage. She will be missed by family and friends alike.
Donna is survived by her husband John of Saranac Inn, her son J. Christopher, his wife Leslie, three wonderful grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua and Kristen of Norfolk Va. and her mother Veronica Barry Miner of AMC Mercy @ Tupper Lake. Donna has five sisters; Carol & Mark Pierce of Norfolk Va. , Claudia & Joe Smith of Wilmington, NY. Pam & Randy Wells of Lady Lake, Fl. Laurie Diehl of Tupper Lake, NY and Anne Lampart of Sugarland, Tx. Three brothers, Barry & Joan Miner of Carthage, NY David & Valerie Miner of Bennington, Vt. and Michael & Naomi Miner of Richland, Ca. There are numerous nieces and nephews spread across the country. She was predeceased by her father, Claude Miner, in 1999.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Monday September 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A bible vigil service will take place on Monday afternoon at 3:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at St. Johns in the Wilderness Church in Lake Clear with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
