TUPPER LAKE
Joseph Harold LaFountain, 77, of Tupper Lake, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake with loving family members by his side. Born April 19, 1935 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Eugene and Stella (Perry) LaFountain. He graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1954 and spent his life working for the community of Tupper Lake. As an employee of the Village of Tupper Lake, he will be fondly remembered by Tupper Lakers who frequented the ice rink. He later worked at Tupper Lake Central School from which he retired. Harold "Beaver", was a police auxiliary member and a long time member of the Tupper Lake Fire Department, Hose Company #3. He was an enthusiastic sports buff and a man who liked to gamble on a lottery ticket or two. Most of all, he will be remembered as a man who loved the town in which he lived. He is survived by three sisters, Pearl Arnold, Helen "Skipper" Reandeau of Tupper Lake and Arila "Elise" Morin and her husband Ben of Fort Mohave, AZ and sister-in-law Geraldine LaFountain of Tupper Lake. He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Norman an infant, Francis who was killed in WWII, Roy who died in 2011 and one sister Theresa Bushey who died in February, 2000. He is mourned by many nieces , nephews and great nephews who loved Uncle Harold dearly. Calling hours are scheduled for Sunday, March 10th from 2 - 5 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Holy Name church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in May.
