TUPPER LAKE-
Ruth LaFave, 95, of Tupper Lake, passed away, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake. Ruth was born in Waterbury, Vermont on September 19, 1916, the daughter of Samuel and Marcelline (Belair) Clark. She grew up in Tupper Lake and surrounding areas. On July 3, 1934 she married Gedeon E. LaFave of Tupper Lake at St. Paul's church in Piercefield. They moved to Buffalo in 1953 where she was employed at Trico Manufacturing until she retired and moved back to Tupper Lake in the mid 1960's. After retirement she worked at Sunmount on the Grandparents program for 26 years, won several awards, she loved working with the kids. Ruth was a member of the St. Anne's Society and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally Smith, son-in-law, Earl Smith, granddaughter Susan Lyons, great grandsons, Matthew, Justin and Jared Lyons and great-great grandson Jess Michael Lyons, all of Canandaigua, New York. One Son, Gedeon J. LaFave, granddaughter, Ann LaFave, grandson, Gedeon LaFave Jr. and great granddaughter Cassandra, all of Glen Falls, New York. One Sister, Gertrude Dewyea of Tupper Lake, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Gedeon in 1972 and her grandson Mark A. Smith in 2004.
Calling hours are scheduled for Sunday, October 16th from 4-6 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
