TUPPER LAKE- Loretta Mable LaFave, 92, of Tupper Lake, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at AMC Mercy Center where she had resided since December 2006. Born on March 28, 1916 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Bruno and Anna (Blair) Scanlon. She attended local schools and married Leon LaFave on January 6, 1939. Together they owned and operated LaFave’s grill for 55 years and retired in 1985. Leon died on December 28, 1988. Mrs. LaFave was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ste Anne Society. She was also a member of the ladies bowling league, enjoyed playing cards and trips to the casino. She is survived by two sons, Leon “Butch” LaFave and his wife Janis of Tupper Lake and Kenneth LaFave and his wife Laurie of Titusville, Florida. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 24th from 4 to 6 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday at 12 noon at St. Alphonsus church.
