TUPPER LAKE- Harlan W. LaFave, 82, of Tupper Lake, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, February 12, 2013 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born November 27, 1930 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Adrian and Matilda (Visneau) LaFave. He attended local schools and graduated class of 1948. On July 7th, 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines serving as a infantryman in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952. On November 18, 1951, he married the former Theresa Delair at St. Alphonsus church. Harlan was a union construction worker, working on various projects throughout the North Country. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, one son James of Tupper Lake, daughters; Darcy Clark of Tupper Lake, Lori (P.J.) Mead of Sandy, Utah and Lisa (Mark) DeHeck of Loveland, CO. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; Megan, Dan, Cheryl, Katherine, Colton, Delanie, Kyle and Amber and one great-granddaughter Khloe. He was pre-deceased by his parents, one brother Orville and sister-in-law Karen LaFave. Harlan had a wonderful sense of humor and found humor in almost everything. He loved to kid and tell stories and loved to tease his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 22 at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in May. Arrangements are with the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home.
