Lulu LaBrake, age 77, of 404 County Route 50, Lake Clear, died peacefully Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on March 25, 1937, she was the daughter of Robert and Hazel (Tyler) Goff. Lulu married Lloyd J. LaBrake on September 5, 1955 in Bloomingdale, NY. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years on July 24, 2014.
Lulu had been a lifelong resident of the Saranac Lake area. She was a loving wife, and Mom to all. She managed the LaBrake Family farm on McMaster Road for many years. She spent eighteen years working as a Community Resident Aid for the State of New York until she retired in 1999. She took great pleasure in being with family and friends. Lulu will be remembered for her warmth and generosity.
She is survived by three sons Andrew (Elise) LaBrake of Tupper Lake, Randolph LaBrake of Canton, and Matthew (Kris) LaBrake of Concord, NH, 5 daughters Ruth (Gary) Valentine of Tupper Lake, Sharon (Mark) Farmer of Lake Clear, Dorothy (Fred) McMenemy of Concord, NH, Jane (Scott) Robinson of Malone and Jackie Prevost of Ft. Plains, NY, 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren,. She is also survived by four brothers Thomas (Ardith) Goff, Donald (Karen) Goff, David Goff and Gene (Ellen) Goff all of Vermontville, two sisters Mary Ellen Keith and Betty Wilson both of Vermontville, two sister-in-laws Genevieve Goff of Vermontville and Rita Tyler of Franklin Falls and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers Robert, Bruce and John Goff, two sisters Anna Yott and Emma Keith and one grandson Tyler Sanford Jones.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 21, 2015 at St. John's Church in the Wilderness, Lake Clear with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial will be at the LaBrake Family Cemetery in Lake Clear in May.
