Lloyd J. LaBrake, age 82, of 404 County Route 50, Lake Clear, died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Vermontville, New York on November 20, 1931, he was the son of William and Alice (Parent) LaBrake. Lloyd married Lulu Goff on September 5, 1955 in Bloomingdale, NY.
Mr. LaBrake was a life long resident of the area. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Upon his return, he spent 20 years as a master carpenter at Trudeau Institute until his retirement in 1980. He left Trudeau to expand the family dairy farm, the first free stall-milking parlor in the area. He loved the Adirondacks and nature; he was an avid trapper, hunter, fisherman, and gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lulu LaBrake of Lake Clear, three sons Andrew LaBrake and his wife Elise of Tupper Lake, Randolph LaBrake of Canton, and Matthew LaBrake and his wife Kris of Concord, NH, 5 daughters Ruth Valentine and her husband Gary of Tupper Lake, Sharon Farmer and her husband Mark of Lake Clear, Dorothy McMenemy and her husband Fred of Concord, NH, Jane Robinson and her husband Scott of Malone and Jackie Provost of Ft. Plains, NY, one sister Rita Tyler of Franklin Falls, 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers Francis LaBrake, Leon LaBrake, Lawrence LaBrake; two sisters Theresa Tummons and Marie McIntyre and one grandson Tyler Sanford Jones.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at 1 o’clock (pm) on August 9, 2014 at the LaBrake Family Farm. Burial will follow in the LaBrake Family Cemetery.
