Steve Kolnsberg, 60, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at his home in Rainbow Lake, NY.
Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of Henry and Barbara Kolnsberg, and nephew of Joanna Grane all of Winter Haven, FL.
He graduated from Suffield High School, Suffield, CT and attended the University of Connecticut at Storrs. He became a puppeteer while at UCONN and continued to enjoy entertaining children and adults with his craft after leaving college. Steve's dry wit and unconventional thinking created magical memories for the people in his life. A semi-retired accountant, he worked in Lake Placid, Malone, and other places in NY, VT, and CT. He was a member of a number of grassroot environmental organizations dedicated to preserving and protecting the wilderness and all it's creatures.
He leaves his life partner, Cindy Cunningham, and his best forever friend, his "not just a dog", Sassy. He is also survived by three sisters, Marji Kuhn and her husband Russ of Merrimack, NH, Barbara Kolnsberg of West Suffield, CT, and Lynn Katulka and her husband Larry of Enfield, CT. He will be missed by his niece Allie and her husband, Ethan, and a nephew Chris as well as Cindy's son Marcus, her daughter April and grandchildren Trevor, Brody, Alyssa, Kevin and Karina.
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." "In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of those I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing." "When you look at the sky at night, it will be as if, in place of the stars, you had a great number of little bells that knew how to laugh."
