Clara Kilner, age 92, of 7 Keene Street, Saranac Lake, New York died Friday, January 09, 2009 at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since May.
Born in Lake Placid, New York on April 16, 1916, she was the daughter of Edwin and Sarah (Lancto) Smith. She married Herbert Kilner in Saranac Lake in 1934. He predeceased her in 1966.
Mrs. Kilner had been employed at the Saranac Lake High School in the late 1950's as a cook in the cafeteria. She was later employed as a cook at a Sears Restaurant in Buffalo, New York for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Kilner was an avid bingo and pinochle player. She enjoyed sewing and had also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years.
She is survived by one son Robert Kilner of Saranac Lake, NY, five grandchildren Linda Branch and her husband Larry of Saranac Lake, NY, Terri Kilner and her husband Alain Dumais of Saranac Lake, NY, Chris Kilner and his wife Joanne of Saranac Lake, NY, Gary Kilner of Saranac Lake, NY, and Lori Kilner-Khouri and her husband Stephen of Charleston, SC, seven great grandchildren Lacey Branch and Lance Branch, Cayla, Shannon, Dylan and Dakota Kilner, and Easton Khouri and 2great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, three Sisters and one brother.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday, January 12, 2009 from 2PM -4PM and 6PM - 8PM. A funeral service will immediately follow calling hours at 8:00 PM on Monday evening at the funeral home with Rev. Patrick O'Reilly officiating. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.
