Carl Edward Kern, age 83, of 20 Cortez Lane, Saranac Lake, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Ruth Bean Kern, two daughters; Jean Kern of Saranac Lake, Mrs. Jane Nohle of Lisle, New York, two granddaughters, Martille Nohle of Lisle, New York, Kensey Nohle of Lisle, New York and two sisters Helen Sprague, of Saranac Lake, NY and Mrs. Marie Law of Burlington, Vermont.
Mr. Kern was born on August 22, 1925, the son of Conrad and Leila (Charland) Kern.
He graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1944. Mr. Kern served in the United States Army in Europe during World War II as a Corporal in the 290th Combat Engineer Battalion. He was employed for 38 years at the Ray Brook State Hospital as a store's clerk.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from 1PM - 3PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid.
