James J. Kane, 79 went to be with the Lord after a courageous struggle with Lou Gehrig Disease at his home in Newcomb surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 17, 1932 the son of the late James and Margaret ( O’Connell ) Kane. He was predeceased by two sisters Anna and Grace Kane.
Jim was retired from New York Telephone with 38 years of service. He was a member of the Newcomb Fire Police and a former member of the Newcomb Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, the Adirondacks and hunting big game.
Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years Barbara (Lake) Kane, his sisters Alice Leary and Joan Kane, his sons James and wife Judy, Daniel, Robert and wife Donna, Gerard and wife Barbara, two step-sons, John Dorn and wife Dorothy and William Dorn, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Chris and Scott Williamson, Thomas and Sharlie Dixon, Michael and Sally Dixon and Robert and Teri Dixon.
Calling hours will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday July 3, 2011 at St. Henry’s Church in Long Lake, NY. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday July 4th at 11:00AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Newcomb. Burial will follow in the Newcomb Cemetery.
